Jason Love is 2005, 6'0" catcher from Longwood, FL, with very good present strength and large, muscular hips and thighs. He’ll have to watch his weight as he matures, but right now it’s not a major factor. Love took an excellent batting practice in Fort Myers, generating very good bat speed and showing us that the ball really jumps off his bat on contact. Love has a big coil and trigger but maintains his balance and hits through the ball well. If anything, he could get some more extension to his swing which might result in more loft power. It looks like this young man is going to be able to hit with authority in the future. Defensively, Love works hard, has some good arm strength and showed a very accurate arm both in workouts and in games. He popped below 2.00 in the workout, but seemed to be rushing a bit. Good prospect and a good student.
