Hoyt is a 6'3" 180 pound 2006 right handed pitcher and outfielder who attends Bakersfield High School in Bakersfield, California. He has a lean athletic frame and a plus build with some sloped shoulders. He starts with an open stance and gets closed with a toe tap trigger. He looks to go to the opposite field by diving into the pitch. He has some quick hands but tends to get long with his swing sometimes. A line drive he hit in the game registered 95 mph off of the bat. Jared threw 82 from the outfield in the workout and has a compact arm action with rigid mechanics. He also ran a 7.37 in the 60 and a 4.92 down to first base. By far his best tool is his pitching ability. Hoyt throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and gets good cut on his fastball. He does throw a very heavy ball but gets a little erratic with his release point some. He does have a very quick loose arm but needs to get some more strength. His curveball is a very sharp 12/6 breaker that he buries in the dirt a lot. Jared also has a plus changeup with good sink on it and is very deceiving to the hitters. His fastball topped out at 89 mph, his curveball at 69 mph, and his changeup at 77. Overall, Hoyt is a promising young pitcher with a very good upside.
