Jake Humphrey is a 2006 SS/RHP from Waukee, Iowa, with a thick, strong build at 6'3", 185 pounds. He hits from a wide, slightly open stance. He has a lot of movement in his set-up, but he stays balanced throughout the swing with a good swing plane and a nice extended finish. He makes solid contact with good bat control, and plus bat speed that makes the ball jump off his bat. He has good power to the pull side. He pitches with a 3/4 arm slot and has a short backside. He topped out at 78 mph with slight arm side run. He has an decent 11-5 curveball (62 mph) and a hard change (66-67 mph) with good sink at times. Jake has good physical projection and he should make gains in speed and strength making him a top prospect.
