Alec New is a 2008 MIF/P with a 5'11'', 165 lb. frame from El Paso, TX who attends Andress. He has a thick build with some present strength. On the mound he has short quick arm action and good mechanics on the mound. He throws out of a 3/4 arm slot, and had a top fastball velocity of 84 mph. He is a high effort thrower with arm speed and an online delivery. Alec goes right after hitters and commands his pitches well. He works quick and attacks the zone. At the plate he hits from an open stance and keeps his hands inside well. At times he strides towards third base and isn't able to cover the outer half of the plate. He will look to dump the ball into right field when he stays on the outside pitch. Defensively he makes a solid exchange and flashes good footwork and range. His top velocity on the infield was 75 mph. Alec is also a very good student.
