Taylor Ryan is a 2008 LHP/1B with a 6'0'', 220 lb. frame from Dallas, TX who attends Jesuit College Prep. Ryan has a large frame with broad shoulders with present strength. He has a thick upper body, with room to go on his lower half. He hits from a square stance and flashes pop and bat speed. His actions look a little stiff, and his swing gets long at times. Defensively he is solid all around at first base. He has an accurate arm, and his top velocity across the infield was 79 mph. On the mound he has good tempo and balance, throwing from an over the top arm slot. He does a good job keeping the ball down in the zone, and gets a lot of ground balls. He will run his fastball in on right handed hitters, and he threw it at a top velocity of 81 mph. His curveball is his best pitch and it bites hard with 12-6 break. He does a good job of setting up his offspeed by working ahead in the count. He demonstrates an understanding of how to pitch. Taylor is a very good student.
