Garrett Nash is a 2007 switch-hitting middle infielder/centerfielder from Jordan HS, residing in Draper, UT. Nash is an exceptional athlete, with a compact and athletic build on his 6'0" 180 lb. frame. He had one of his best ever big event performances at PG National and ranked #19 among all PG National Top 100 position players. Nash has been pegged as a centerfield for some time now because he can flat out scoot, and some scouts have been skeptical of him as a defensive middle infielder. In this event and at others this summer he started to make believers of his ability to play in the middle of the diamond. At the plate he is a quality hitter from both sides, with developing power from both sides, particularly from the left side. On the right side he has a quiet approach with quiet hands. He is a line drive, gap type hitter with plus bat speed and some rhythm in his approach. From the left side he a more power conscience approach, going to the pull side a lot and showing a little lift in his swing. His hands are good and from the left side he showed a bit more raw bat speed, which probably is because he is more aggressive from that side. Nash has shown the ability to spray the ball from the left side too, particularly in BP sessions. Once on the bases he is excitement waiting to happen, either via the stolen base, or taking a hard turn and forcing a throw or flying around the bags on a double or triple or going from first to third. He makes pitchers and catcher nervous with his playable speed. On defense he has plus range at SS/2B or in centerfield and has shown good hands and an arm that can stay on the left side. Nash is not only pure speed, but he has good footwork, making him that much better. He runs 4.00 home/1st (LH), and has shown laser timed 60s below 6.3, running a 6.43 60 at PG National. He is clearly one of top pure athletes in the '07 class and has tools that play in the game. Look for him to get a whole lot of interest for the draft, he just does things that other players cannot and that makes him a premium prospect.

Garrett Nash is a 2007 MIF/OF from Jordan HS in Draper, UT, with a 6'0'', 180 lb. frame. He has excellent present strength for his age and has the high hips and plus lower body strength you find on a track sprinter or premium running back. His upper body still has some room to fill out and gain strength. Nash is one of the faster players in the 2007 class. He ran 6.48 and has been timed down into the low 6.3's in the past. Nash plays middle infield now but all indications are that he is a prototype centerfielder at the next level. He has raw arm strength and his speed should enable him to excel in gaps chasing down balls. Unlike most speed players, Nash has the strength and bat speed to develop as a middle of the order hitter, as well. He is a switch hitter who shows a bit better bat speed and balance from the right side at present. From the left side he's a bit shorter to the ball and has a higher average approach. From the right side he has more lift and length in his swing and is going to hit some home runs and get the ball in the air more frequently. Nash hit very well against live pitching and is a potential impact type offensive player at the highest levels. Pro scouts will be making the trip to Utah next year to bear down on Nash if he continues his development. He is also a very good student.

Garrett Nash is a 2007 MIF/OF from Jordan HS in Draper, Utah, with a 5'11", 175 lb. frame. Nash was named to the Top Prospect Team at the event. Speed is his top tool, but his all-around game is outstanding. Nash ran a 6.37-sixty on a very slow track-we would love to see him on a good surface. He shows his speed and quickness on the bases as well as in the OF and MIF. Defensively he has good actions in the infield with good arm strength, but his speed probably plays better in the outfield. He gets great jumps and can really cover ground. Offensively Nash is a legitimate switch hitter that makes solid contact and makes things happen. He hits with quiet hands and a no stride approach with very good bat speed. He has surprising pop in his bat and will hit for average and have power at the next level. Nash topped off a great Showcase by throwing 85 mph off the mound while mixing in a 72 mph breaking ball and a 72 mph split. He has a very quick arm with a good lower half and showed good control. Nash has the chance to be a top two-way player in the class of 2007. He is a must follow, and is also an outstanding student.

Garrett is sophomore infielder from Utah who combines some wirey present strength with excellent quickness and speed. This kid can fly; he turned in 6.52 time in the 60 and was under 4.2 to first base. Garrett showed good bat control and already has some of the leadoff type skills that will best suit his game at the higher levels. More strength will help his raw bat speed. Defensively, Garrett shows good hands and balance in the middle of the field and some nice instincts. His footwork is solid and he has a quick, compact throwing stroke. Garrett also played some outfield and was impressive defensively there as well. Although it is a secondary consideration, Garrett took a turn on the mound and had the arm strength to throw 84 mph with his fastball. Garrett is an aggressive player who plays with energy and enthusiasm. Quality prospect who will continue to improve and impress coaches and scouts both. Garrett is also a very good student.
