Defensively, Acevedo has arm strength and has a quick arm action. He has a bounce in his step and wants the ball. He moves to the baseball well and has good footwork. He has nice actions with good hands. At the palte, Acevedo starts with an open stance and swings from slight crouch. He has high hands and swings with flexed knees. Acevedo has a deep load and has quick hands to the baseball. He swings on a line drive swing path and generates good bat speed. Acevedo looks to pull the baseball and can really drive the ball to the pullside. He jumped all over some pitches and really put a charge into the baseball. Acevedo is a good student.

Acevedo is a 5-9, 165 lb. freshman infielder from Miami with a compact, strong body for his age. He ran the 60 in 8.24 and threw 83 mph during infield drills with good carry; very impressive for a 14 year old. His body type and speed probably profile best for third base at this point. Acevedo is a back foot hitter with a upper cut swing who is looking to lift the ball, often to right centerfield. He has a power approach at the plate and develops some bat speed for his age and should keep improving as he matures. Good young player to watch for future improvement.

Acevedo is an eighth grade infielder from Miami and one of the first 1991 birthdates that we’ve encountered at a PG/WWBA event. He has a nice athletic body for his age with some present strength and is just going to get bigger and stronger. Acevedo ran the 60 in 7.53 and threw 73 mph across the infield and while we don’t have many comparisons for 13 year olds, we have to believe that these are pretty good levels to reach at this age! Acevedo has good hitting fundamentals at the plate and can get the bat head to the ball with wood. He tends to reach a bit and release the bat early with his right hand. Acevedo competed well in the games against the older players and made good consistent contact. We encourage him to keep working hard on his skills!
