Alex Wood is a 6' 195 pound 2007 first baseman and left handed pitcher from Palm Beach Gardens High School in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He has a strong build much like a football player. Alex has a quiet set up at the plate with a wide stance and high hands. He has good bat speed and shows good power potential. He is a smart hitter who attacks the ball especially on the inner half where he likes to pull the ball with authority. In the field, Wood has nice hands and picks the ball very cleanly at first base. He moves very well around the bag and seems to know what he is doing. Wood pitches from a 3/4 arm slot and has good movement on his pitches. His fastball was at 77 mph while his curveball was at 61 mph. Alex is a good looking athlete who is also a very good student with a 3.5 gpa.
