Eli Sherman is a 2007 C/P with a 5'10'', 195 lb. frame from Washington VT, who attends Montpelier HS. He has a solid, athletic frame and good lower body strength. Sherman ran the 60 in 7.28 and threw 71 mph during catching drills with a best pop time of 2.12. He has good quickness behind the plate and good feel for the ball receiving. He has a short arm stroke with some arm strength and will improve his pop times with better and more efficient footwork. Sherman hits with a duck footed stance with his feet pointed in towards each other, which effectively locks out his lower half. He has strong hands and arms and generates good bat speed with his upper half and showed he could turn on the ball with some authority. He squared up to balls well and showed bat head skills. Sherman has the raw tools to keep improving as a hitter with good instruction and some adjustments. He comes from far Northeast baseball environment but has some baseball savvy and skills. He also pitched a bit and threw a 73 mph fastball and a pretty sharp 61 mph curveball. Sherman is also a good student.
