2007 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase
Clabie Edmond is a 2009 OF/SS with a 6'2'', 180 lb. frame from Charlotte, NC who attends Vance HS. He has a very nice athletic frame with long levers and some developing strength. He ran the 60 in 7.39 and moved well underway. Edmond played both shortstop and centerfield at the showcase and his tools and actions seem better suited for the outfield. His throwing arm is a bit of a mystery; he has the arm speed and strength to throw much harder than he does. It looked as if Edmond had a poor grip on the ball and was throwing change ups. Some work on basic throwing/grip fundamentals might dramatically improve his arm strength. Offensively, Edmond has good strength in his swing and the ball leaves his bat hard. He hits from a still start right now and is tentative starting his swing, which gives him little chance against good pitching. Like his throwing, it looks as if Edmond has the physical talent to hit, he just hasn't been coached enough to be able to succeed at this level. Given some experience and instruction., he could really improve.
