Tobe Kailimai is a 2008 RHP with a 6'2'', 170 lb. frame from Kapaau HI, who attends Kohala HS. Selected as a Top Prospect at this event. Kailimai has a long, lanky, loose and lively body type that suggests quite a bit of projectability for him on the mound. He would appear to have a pretty high ceiling. His arm is loose and quick and works free and easy. Kailimai creates good leverage at release point and finishes his pitches with good extension. The stronger his lower body and core become, the harder he will throw. There is an easy 5-6 more mph in there and it is not far away. Presently Kailimai's fastball is in the mid-80s, with good angle and good length through the zone. His fastball is sneaky and pretty hot. At times it can ride in the zone and other times it was heavy. His 74-75 mph curveball is a potential out pitch and at times was a yakker. He needs to hold it a bit longer to get more depth, but there is nothing wrong with the action of that pitch. With more lower half stability, Kailimai will get even more extension and will be able to hold the curveball longer. He does work across his body a bit, but he keeps his head still, an indication that he gets unhooked from the rubber on time and is able to work around the center of his body. There are plenty of pitching coaches that would love to work with a prospect like Kailimai.
