2007 Hawaii Showcase Tournament
Keaolapule Fessenden is a 2007 LHP/2B/OF with a 5'11'', 160 lb. frame from Holualoa HI, who attends Konawaena HS. He has an average frame and a lanky, wiry build. Fessenden was listed as a primary pitcher but his ability with the bat stood out the most. He is a very good contact hitter with a quick bat and flat swing plane. Fessenden lets the ball travel and works the middle and opposite fields well. He did a nice job of keeping his front side closed in left on left situations, rare for a young left handed hitter. Defensively he plays under control and runs well enough to suggest that he can play in centerfield at the right level of college ball. On the mound Fessenden did not show big arm strength (70-71 mph) but he trusts his stuff and pitches well with what he has. He keeps the ball down and has some feel for the baseball. He is aggressive to the zone and forces contact. His big curveball can slow bats and upset timing. Possible situational reliever in college beyond high school.
