2005 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Alex Stuenkel is a 2006 RHP with a 6'3'', 190 lb. frame from Alpharetta GA, who attends Northview HS. He has a good pitcher's body that should get stronger. Stuenkel throws from a 3/4's to high 3/4's release point with a stiff front side that cuts off his extension out front. He gets very little use out of his lower body. Stuenkel's fastball topped out at 75 mph with some running action. He attacked hitters aggressively with strikes and didn't back down. He showed he could throw inside to hitters. His curveball was 69 mph. We didn't see a change up. Stuenkel's raw stuff will improve immediately with some adjustments to his pitching mechanics and he already has a good approach to pitching. He is a very good student off the field.
