Caleb Hatcher is a 2008 MIF/3B with a 5'11'', 165 lb. frame from San Diego CA, who attends Westview HS. He has a compact, strong athletic body that is well-proportioned throughout. When projecting Hatcher for the college level and beyond, he would seem to best fit the profile of an offensive 2nd baseman or possibly that of a quality hitter at either 3rd base or left field. Offensively Hatcher has a chance to be an impact hitter at the D1 level. He hits from a slightly open stance and showed a good hand path with good bat speed and hands that work well. He is a pull hitter with strength and an aggressive swing, with good timing. Hatcher does have some present day power to the pull side and looks capable of developing that power from gap to gap. Defensively his feet work well and he showed fluid actions in the field. His footspeed is below average for the middle of the diamond, but he can make up for that with jumps and instincts. Hatcher has some feel for defense and good hands, so it would seem that as long as his bat plays, he will be in the infield somewhere at the college level and possibly beyond someday.
