Alex Poyner is a 2016 MIF/RHP with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Owasso, OK who attends Owasso HS. Medium, athletic frame with a well proportioned frame and some present strength with room to add more. Ran a 7.48 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, good footwork to the ball, short arm action with a long release on accurate throws across with carry. Good showing on the mound at this event, throws from a tight, high three-quarter arm action and shows solid, repeatable mechanics. Works downhill, will occasionally get cross body with delivery and miss up top. Fastball topped out at 79 mph and shows cutting action to go along with a tight spinning 11-5 curveball at 67 mph. Right-handed hitter, starts swing with a leg lift trigger for timing. Starts with a wrapped bat, short path to the ball and keeps hands in, effort in swing with a pull approach and shows ability to hit to all fields. Excellent student.
