London Penland is a 2017 SS/2B with a 5-7 140 lb. frame from San Leandro, CA who attends Bishop O Dowd. Lean athletic young build, projects well. Quick athletic defensive actions really stood out, good defensive energy. Some wasted motion to infield actions at present, moves very well, athletic actions, quick release, fluid. Short rotational swing, contact oriented approach, quick hands, line drive swing plane, projectable hitting tools. Pitches from a high three quarters arm slot with a long arm action, inconsistent balance, fastball tails, good spin on 11-5 curveball. Interesting young prospect to keep an eye on over the next few years. Named to top prospect list.
