R. David Francis is a 6-1, 190 lb senior right handed pitcher from Canada with a mature body and thick chest. He throws from a high 3/4's release point with a calm, under control type of delivery, a high leg raise and a stiff front side to throw against on landing. Francis' fastball topped out at 89 mph from a short, quick arm stroke and he'll vary the speed on it pretty consistently, including turning over a 2-seamer at 81-83 that has pretty good life. His fastball is pretty straight at the higher velocities. Francis' curveball was mostly 67-69 mph. He gets a big downer break on the pitch but drops his elbow some, which takes velocity and power from the pitch. He tried a couple of change ups but this pitch is still in its developmental stages. Overall, Francis is a young power pitcher with a very strong arm who could settle in as a consistent low 90's type of pitcher.

David Francis is a 2006 right handed pitching prospect from Canada with a solid 6'1" frame. He throws from a tall and erect delivery that doesn’t incorporated much lower body action with an easy working arm action and a high ¾ release point. Francis’s fastball was 82-84 mph and had very good cutting action at times that he had trouble controlling. He threw some 67-68 curveballs that had good spin and a big 11/5 bite at times, and also mixed in a 76 mph change up. With the cutting action that Francis gets on his fastball, it’s a natural that he learn a "power" slider at some point in the future. As a 2006 prospect who can spin the ball and generate some good velocity, Francis is a very good college follow at this point.
