James Kottaras is a 2008 2B/3B with a 5'10'', 155 lb. frame from Markham, ON who attends Milliken Mills SS. He has a smaller frame, with square shoulders and some present strength. Kottaras is a polished player both offensively and defensively. His defense has improved since the last time we saw him and he showed very smooth actions at second base and made accurate, strong throws. He was under control in the games and made all the plays easily. Kottaras is a left handed hitter with a crisp, short swing that produces line drives to all fields. He's a very patient hitter who will work a count. Kottaras is one of those hitters who looks better and produces better when he's swinging hard and trying to hit the ball hard, rather than staying under control. He keeps his hands inside the ball well and his best contact is to the middle of the field. Kottaras is a 7.33 runner but has good quickness and efficient actions. He's a ball player who will max out his physical tools.

James Kotaras is a 2008 3B/2B with a 5'10'', 155 lb. frame from Markham ON, who attends Milliken Mills SS. He has a medium athletic frame with developing strength. Kotaras has a very polished hitting approach; he's very patient waiting for his pitch but very quick and short to the ball when decides to swing. Kotaras was a line drive machine, squaring up on the ball almost every at bat and hitting hard line drives to all fields. You could see in batting practice that he has some lift and power projection in his swing down the road with additional strength and repetitions. He is going to be a high average hitter who should adjust to high velocity pitching with relative ease. Kotaras profiles best at second base. He has clean and balanced actions on defense and good arm strength. He'll have to work on his overall foot quickness and speed as the game speeds up. Kotaras's brother George is a top minor league catching prospect with Boston who was traded straight up for David Wells at the end of August.
