Daniel Shields is a 2005 athlete from Royal Palm Beach, FL, who lists himself as a primary first baseman, but who has tools that profile much better in the outfield. Shields runs very well and recorded a 6.98 in the 60 on the slow track. His throwing arm is also very playable from center or left field. At the plate, Shields showed some good power to the middle of the field. He has a nice balanced load with his hands calm and back and enough present strength to generate some good bat speed with wood. Shields’ swing understandably has a bit of aluminum sweep in it, but he makes good contact consistently. He could become a very productive hitter at the next level. Daniel is an excellent student.

Daniel Shields is a 2005 1B/OF from Royal Palm Beach, FL. He showed us some very good hitting tools in batting practice and in the games. Shields has a knee lift trigger and good load with his hands and upper body. He generates good bat speed and had a very high percentage of hard line drive contact. He doesn’t project a bunch of power right now with his size and swing type, but he looks like a high average hitter. Defensively, Shields has pretty good running speed, good hands and a playable arm. Daniel is a very good student..
