David Mullins is a 2009 LHP/OF with a 5'10'', 159 lb. frame from Ballwin MO, who attends Desmet HS. He has a small, younger frame with some lower half strength. Mullins has a nice online delivery with a quick arm circle in back that hides the ball and provides some deception. His release point is extended 3/4's. Mullins fastball was 77-79 mph and he pitched aggressively inside to right handed hitters, who didn't appear to see the ball well and were consistently behind in their swings. Mullins best pitch was a 73 mph slider that he also came inside with aggressively and got under hitter's hands. He was also able to throw a bigger, slower 65 mph curveball off his slider. Mullins change up had good arm speed and some fade. Hitters were confused by Mullins four pitches and his deception and did not make good contact. Mullins looks like a very effective left hander with his pitchability and his stuff should continue to improve as he gets older and stronger. Mullins is also a good student.
