David Bowen is a 2007 2B/OF from Huntingtown HS in Huntingtown, MD, with a 5'10'', 180 lb. frame. He has good present strength and it shows in his ability to swing the bat. Bowen hits with his weight back in a pre-set load, with a wide stance and a low hand set. He has an upper cut swing and is looking to lift the ball and drive it in the air. Bowen has good bat speed and attacks the ball aggressively. It's an approach that's going to enable him, with his strength and bat speed, to hit with significant power at the high school level with metal bats. He will likely have to make some adjustments against better pitching as he moves up the ladder but he has the tools to hit. Bowen is a good straight away runner with 7.23 speed in the 60. He has active feet on defense and good range to the ball. His present arm strength limits him to second base or left field and he will need to continue to work on softening his hands and approach to the ball. His bat will carry him. Bowen is a strong student as well.
