2006 Mid-Atlantic Top Prospect Showcase
Joseph Ruo is a 2008 RHP/3B/SS/OF that attends Mashpee HS and resides in Mashpee, MA with a 5'11", 170 lb. build. Joseph has a lean athletic build and showed good versatility in the field at the showcase. At the plate Joseph keeps his hands inside the ball well with a level swing plane and good bat speed. His swing is simple and efficient and he looks like a player that could swing the bat at the Division I level. In the outfield Joseph shows nice footwork to go along with smooth actions. He has a nice arm action and just needs to pick up a little arm strength. In the infield Joseph has an accurate arm with a quick release. Like in the outfield Joseph has smooth actions and looks very comfortable in the field. Right now Joseph projects well at either corner outfield position or at second or third base. On the mound Joseph throws from an OH arm slot with a short arm action. He has good life on his pitches and shows a solid 12 to 6 downer CB. Joseph has solid stuff on the mound but looks like he has more upside in the field. He is a player that should attract attention from many mid to high-level college programs.
