Cody Shields is a 2009 1B/3B with a 6'4'', 160 lb. frame from Laurel DE, who attends Sussex Technical. Shields has a tall body with a thin build. He has a very lean and lanky body with a pitchers frame. Defensively, Shields has nice hands and throws with a long loose arm action. He moves well around the bag at 1st and provides a big target for infielders to throw to. He can make the picks at first and has developing arm strength. At the plate, Shields starts with an open stance with a narrow base. He starts with low hands in his stance and has a busy approach in the batter's box. Shields is a contact hitter with a line drive approach to his swing. Shields could turn into a solid prospect depending on how he fills out his very thin frame.
