Daniel Cohen: Cohen is a barrel chested senior right handed pitcher/OF from Massachusetts. He showed some raw arm strength, topping out at 83 mph on his fastball with some occasional cutting action and maintaining his velocity well. Cohen also threw a 64-66 mph curveball and a 70 mph change up. For the last couple of hitters, Cohen either broke out a 70-71 mph slider or started throwing his curveball harder and this was easily the best couple of off-speed pitches that he threw. Cohen took a few turns in the batters’ box and looked like he used his strength well and could hit with some power when he stayed on and through the ball. Daniel has a good arm and would fit in nicely at the right program.

Daniel has a strong athletic build and has some pop in his bat. On the mound his fastball was at 85 but we have seen it better before. His mechanics are improved and the curveball has good bite at times with 12-6 rotation at 70 mph. He has good command of his pitches. He is very poised on the mound and knows how to compete. He uses lttle effort and we expect to see more out of him in the future. We'll follow him closely.

Cohen is a hard-nosed player that offers 2-way ability at the next level. He has a muscular 5 foot 11 body that looks powerful. His legs have major muscle mass and he showed power coming from that area when he pitched and hit. As a pitcher Cohen showed a strong arm and good looking mechanics. His finish was slightly off-balance and violent but everything else worked for him. He showed 84-86 mph velocity with his fastball and 70-73 mph velocity on his curveball. His curve at times showed a nice break and very tight spin. Some curveballs were swung at and missed by a foot. He comes from an over the top arm slot and the curve takes a good 12-6 path. His fastball lacked life but was able to set up his curve and a change-up used sparingly between 70-73 mph. At the plate, Cohen showed some good bat-speed and power. He took a good hack showing his powerful swing while still managing to stay back on some good off-speed pitches. He can punish the ball and showed a tendency to use pull power the most. He should be one of the top 2004 players in his area and followed closely by every College in the Northeast. We like the way he competes !

Strong athletic build with a good arm. Hits the ball hard with gap power. Threw 86 from the mound with a real good tight 12-6 curve ball in the lower 70s. Nice mechanics, free of tension arm. Showed some command.
