2006 Mid-Atlantic Top Prospect Showcase
Steven Catania is a 2007 RHP/SS/3B that attends Norristown Area HS and resides in East Norristown, PA with a 6'1", 170 lb. frame. Steven has a lean athletic build with some room to fill out. On the mound Steven throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a long live arm action. Steven gets a lot of life on his fastball and showed a very sharp 10 to 4 CB. He is very efficient with his pitches and really attacks hitters. One area of concern was Steven's command which could be improved with some tightening in his mechanics. At the plate Steven showed some nice line-drive contact but really need to shorten his swing up. Once he starts getting his hands inside the ball more he should improve vastly at the plate. In the field Steven has average actions and will profile best at third base. Steven is a player that will attract the attention of many small to mid-level college programs.
