Jonathan Peters is a 2007 1B/3B with a 6'0'', 228 lb. frame from Ontario CA, who attends Chino HS. He has a large, strong, physical body. Peters at times looked like a middle of the line-up masher. He has good hands and good bat speed, able to accelerate through contact. His set-up and approach are good and he is a disciplined hitter, displaying that trait by staying back on the curveball and hitting it to the opposite field. The ball jumps off his bat and his present day power rates as above average, particularly to the pull side. Peters transfers his weight well too. He is going to hit for power and drive in runs. There are times when his front hip does not get closed and that hurts his plate coverage. He starts with an open stance and too often allowed his energy to leak early. Staying closed longer could make a huge difference in his consistency. Otherwise, he is a very good hitting prospect. Some will not like his body, but he is going to hit for someone. Defensively he moves well around the bag and has soft hands, playing 1st base with feel. He does not have great range, but his feet move well and he will make the plays in his range and be at the very least an average defensive 1st baseman. Follow Peters closely, especially if he ends up going the JC route. Given a couple of more years and reps, he could really be something as a hitter.

Jonathan Peters is a 2007 1B/3B with a 6'0'', 228 lb. frame from Ontario CA, who attends Chino. Peters has a big frame with a thick build. He has good present strength. Defensively, Peters moves well around the base at 1st and has good hands. He can make the picks and has solid actions to the ball. At the plate, Peters has a good approach and his hands work well in his swing. He has strong hands and takes a powerful swing at the plate. He has present gap to gap pop with much more power potential in there. He has a nice swing and stays smooth through finish. Peters has quick hands with bat speed. He can really hit the ball and can handle wood. Good student.

Jonathan Peters is a 2007 1B/3B with a 6'0'', 228 lb. frame from Ontario CA, who attends Chino HS. Named a Top Prospect at this event. Peters has a physical build, with thick proportions and apparent strength. He is surprisingly athletic for his body type and shows it both at the plate and in the field. His main tool is the bat. Peter's has a swing with whippy life through the zone. The ball jumps off his bat and he showed that he is quite comfortable swinging the wood and making hard barrel contact. He has good raw power and it plays to all fields. Peters stays pretty short to the ball and has a good trigger. Particularly impressive was the way his lower body works. He is able to clear his hips and allow his hands to extend through contact, providing that middle and oppo power. Around the bag he has soft hands and reads the ball very well. Peters' feet work well, and his first step is better than his footspeed might otherwise indicate. D1 programs looking for some power at 1st base might want to look into this young hitter.
