Ricky Rodriguez is a 2010 1B/3B with a 5'8'', 150 lb. frame from Mission, TX, who attends Mission Sharyland High School. Rodriguez is a very young (2010) player with a lean and wiry frame. Defensively he has a clean release on his throws from first base, and his throws were online. Rodriguez also showed solid footwork and moved well around the first base bag. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a straight away stance with a solid base. He makes consistent middle of the field contact and shows the ability to hit the ball to all fields. Rodriguez shows solid bat speed through the hitting zone at times. He has a line drive swing plane and keeps the bat in the zone well. He is a very young player with upside. Much of his improvements will come naturally with maturity and added strength gains. He is a good student as well.
