Nick Jones is a 2008 LHP/OF that attends Woodridge HS and resides in Akron, OH with a 6'0", 178 lb. frame. Nick has an athletic numbers and showed off a big arm in the outfield. (87) At the plate Nick has a short easy swing and keeps his weight back well to drive the ball to the opposite field. He has an abbreviated finish and might turn on the ball more if he could get his hips through the ball. In the outfield Nick showed good athletic ability to go with his big arm. He could project well at either corner outfield position, but looks like a strong rightfielder in the future. On the mound Nick throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a short compact arm action. Nick shows good mound presence with solid command and is able to get a nice downward plane on his pitches. He will need to work on developing his off-speed pitches some time in the future. Nick struggled a little at the event but his potential on the mound is very good. He looks like a solid mid to high-level college recruit.
