William Stanford is a 2009 RHP/MIF with a 5'9'', 165 lb. frame from Hixson, TN, who attends Hixson High School. Stanford has a wiry frame with projection for a 2009 graduate. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with looseness in his arm. He has a long arm circle on the back side, but doesn't show the ball. Stanford throws strikes with his pitches, and he pitches to contact. At times he gets cutting action on his fastball that topped out at 72 mph. He also threw a 64 mph breaking ball with loose spin. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a closed stance. Stanford has a flat plane swing allowing the bat head to stay in the zone for a long time. He stays balanced through his swing, but his back side comes out at times causing him to lose plate coverage. Showed solid hands defensively on the infield. He is a good student as well.
