Sam Rodgman is a 2008 3B/OF/RHP from Mount Tabor HS in Winston Salem, NC with a 5'11", 160 lb. frame. Sam has a lean athletic build and really swung the bat well during the showcase. He hits from a very open stance at the plate where he centers up and really drives the ball. Using his quick hands and good bat speed Sam is able to turn on the ball easily and produce consistent line-drive contact. Sam will dive into the ball some and will get jammed with pitches if he is not careful. Defensively Sam showed his best tools in the infield. He uses his feet well and has a quick release on his throws. He showed arm strength in the outfield that he seemed to be holding back on in the infield. Sam looks like he could play either third or second base at the next level. Sam threw a brief stint on the mound, but it appears his future in the field. Sam looks to be a solid mid-level Division I recruit.
