Matthew Kaler is a 2008 MIF/OF from Walt Whitman HS in Bethesda, MD with a 6'0", 175 lb. frame. Matthew has a lean athletic build and had a good overall feel for the game. From the right side Matthew has a quick wristy swing where he showed solid line-drive contact. He approach from the left side is very simalar to the right. He is very aggressive from both sides but likes to jump out to his front side early. He needs to work on keeping his front side closed and getting his weight on his back side more. During the games Matthew swung the bat well and looked like he knew what he was doing. In the field Matthew projects best at second base. He showed nice range and moved well in the infield to go with an accurate arm. Matthew is a kid that should attract the attention of many mid-level colleges his senior year.
