A.J. Wirnsberger is a 2006 SS/3B/C from Bryant HS in Tuscaloosa, AL, with a 6'1", 175 lb. frame. He has a wide shouldered, narrow hipped frame that should be able to add strength in the future. Wirnsberger ran the 60 in 6.99 and was 4.49 down to first base. He had an excellent showcase defensively, showing top level arm strength, fast and balanced feet and smooth hands. He made some nice plays at third base that showed his versatility as well. At the plate, Wirnsberger has a pull approach with bat speed and some loft in his swing. He hit one moon shot double deep off the left centerfield wall that just missed going out and put some other very good swings on pitches. He really impressed us with his offensive approach and his potential to keep improving with the bat. Wirnsberger has a very good overall collection of tools and knows how to play the game. Highest level prospect.

Wirnsberger is a solid, switch-hitting catcher with a good young projectable body to grow into. He showed us good hitting ability with a little better swing from the right side and some power potential. He has good receiving ability and a good arm for his age that will only get stronger. He popped a 2.2 and his ball had good carry to the bag.
