Clark Murphy is a 2008 OF/1B with a 6'3'', 200 lb. frame from Fallbrook, CA who attends Fallbrook Union HS. He has a strong, well proportioned build with even more strength to come. Murphy has a played extensively at both first base and right field and has the type of tools you want to keep in a corner outfield position. He moves well for a big athlete and makes strong, accurate throws from the outfield. He has soft hands around the bag at first base. Murphy has a history of being one of the top power hitters in the 2008 class but didn't perform up to his normal ability at the plate in Cincinnati. Lucky for us we have seen him completely mash in the past. His issues in Cincy were with timing, and it would be unfair to evaluate him based on this. Murphy made adjustments thoughout the summer when we saw him and he turned it on, as the summer came to an end. Everyone in the baseball community knows his potential and it is immense. Murphy is an outstanding student who has a verbal commitment to UCLA. Selected to 2007 Aflac All-American team.

Clark Murphy is a 2008 OF/1B with a 6'3'', 200 lb. frame from Fallbrook, CA who attends Fallbrook Union. He has a big, broad frame with very good present strength and the chance to get really strong down the road. Murphy hits from an open stance with good balance and a good load. He has has loose, strong wrists in his swing and really whips the bat head through the zone. Murphy has home run power to all fields but really has loft light tower type power when he's pulling the ball. Murphy is a low effort hitter, he looks relaxed and gives the impression he's hitting within himself even when he's hitting bombs. He didn't run or play defensively at the showcase because he's nursing a sore quad. Murphy is an excellent student who has committed to UCLA.

Clark Murphy is a 2008 left hand hitting 1st baseman/outfielder from Fallbrook HS, residing in Fallbrook, CA. Named a Top Prospect at this event. Murphy has a 6'3" 195 lb. frame and a strong, physical body that just drips with power projection. He is presently strong and sturdy but is broad and still has room to fill out. Murphy is the type hitter that can make impression on a scout with merely the sound of the ball coming off his bat. He has very strong hands and plus bat speed, producing usable present day power to all fields and plus future power potential. His hands fire easily and are quite lively, with surprisingly loose wrists for such a strong young man. Murphy has the look of an old-school hitter, standing in with a simple upright stance, no batting gloves and an efficient "see it and mash it" approach. He clears his hips easily and his pullside power is presently a plus attribute. The ball spins off his bat, adding carry to his raw physical power, not to mention that he has the ability to center the ball on the barrel. Murphy also displayed a good eye and did not chase pitches out of the zone. He is an immediate impact hitter. Defensively he sets up to the ball well at 1st base. His feet are solid and he showed some feel for playing defense. All-around he is a solid 1st baseman who could also be moved to a corner outfield spot, with left field being the most likely spot. Murphy's bat will play no matter what position he plays. He is a top tier D1 and draft prospect.
