Jon Michael Zimmerman is a 2009 C/1B/3B from William Byrd HS in Vinton, VA with a 6'0", 175 lb. frame. Jon Michael is a young catcher with a lean athletic build. He showed good speed for his position running a 7.37 60-yard dash. At the plate Jon keeps his weight back well and is able to hit the ball deep in the zone. His swing can get long and he will need to work on keeping his hands inside the ball better. He worked out in both the infield and catcher, where he looked much more comfortable behind the plate. He showed a solid release with good footwork behind the plate and should only see his pop times drop as he gets stronger. Jon Michael showed some solid catching tools at the showcase and could be a player that many colleges look at in a few years.
