Jacob Mahan is a 2008 2B/3B/OF with a 6'0'', 170 lb. frame from Camarillo, California, who attends Camarillo High School. Mahan is a lean and athletic player with square shoulders. Defensively he has solid actions on the infield, and e shows range to his left. Mahan has potion flexibility being able to play on the infield and in the outfield. He runs well and he gets to the ball with fluid actions in the outfield. At the plate he is a left handed hitter who hits from a wide base. He is a front foot hitter with a flat swing plane. He stays inside the ball and has the potential to hit balls to all fields. Mahan is a contact hitter. Once on the bases, Mahan shows better speed than his 7.15 sixty might suggest. He gets good jumps with the ability to steal bases, and he will take the extra base. He is a good student as well.
