Scott Gilbert is a 2021 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from South Abington Twp, PA who attends Abington Heights. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength to frame, additional room to fill and grow physically moving forward. Ran a 7.77 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, controlled tempo and pace on the mound with sound, repeatable mechanics on the mound while working to an over-the-top release. Fastball topped out at 83 mph, late and heavy life down in the zone and projects for more velocity. Filled the zone and showed comfort mixing a 12-6 shaped curveball for strikes, kept hitters off balance with combo. Fields the ball out front at first base, circles it well and shows a clean and loose arm action, works through the ball, present strength to throws. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a high leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Does a nice job of staying short to the ball, occasionally gets front foot down early, shows jump off the barrel when squared. Short and compact stroke, simple swing with occasional lift; swung it well in live action, shows comfort working to pull side but can go to all fields. Very good student. Named to the Sunshine Northeast Top Prospect List.
