Travis Yeckring is a 2007 MIF/P with a 6'0'', 165 lb. frame from Gainesville FL, who attends Buchholz HS. He has a lean and slender build with little present strength. Yeckring ran the 60 in 7.77 and threw 72 mph during infield drills from a low, slinging release point. He's a left handed hitter who showed some hand quickness and strength at the plate. He turned on the ball well a couple of times and showed a balanced, compact approach. More strength will help and he has a good fundamental base to work from. Yeckring also pitched and threw from a submarine release point, down under at about 7:00 with his hand near the ground. Yeckring's 69 mph fastball had good sink and he also threw a change up and slider at 66 mph, probably just changing his grip on the same release to get different action.. He needs to develop a pitch at a different speed but was effective with his deceptive style. Yeckring is also an excellent student.
