Matthew Serret is a 2007 OF/P with a 5'11'', 160 lb. frame from Hesperia CA, who attends Hesperia HS. Selected as a Top Prospect at this event. Serret was one of the more intriguing players in the showcase. He is a talented position player with a pretty high ceiling but also is a good looking pitching prospect. Time will have to tell which way he goes, long term. Serret has a lean, wiry strong, athletic body that projects well. Offensively he hits hard line drives and ground balls, with a flat swing plane and middle of the field approach. He has good bat speed and keeps his hands inside the ball through contact, creating nice barrel lag. His hands work very well too. Everything about Serret "lively" (save for his 60 time, but he runs well home to first, indicating that his burst is better than his straightaway speed) so keep close tabs on him, he will really come on when he gains more strength. He is also a good base runner, showing aggressiveness, instincts, and making hard turns. Defensively he showed a strong (85 from the OF) and quick arm, making low trajectory throws. Serret approaches the ball athletically with excellent body control. He has the tools, fundamentals, and instinccts to be a well above average outfielder. On the mound he pitches with a high 3/4 slot, with a loose and quick arm. His arm works easily and cleanly, with easy effort. His fastball topped at 84 but there is more velocity to come. Serret's fastball moves on both sides of the plate. He used a fastball/change-up combo and showed feel for pitching. Serret is a strike thrower and can pitch with his fastball. He is a strong student and one of the more interesting unsigned players in Southern CA. Everything about his game is projectable.

Matthew Serret is a 2007 OF/P with a 5'11'', 160 lb. frame from Hesperia CA, who attends Hesperia. Serret has a medium sized frame with an athletic lean build. Defensively, Serret moves well in the outfield and gets good jumps on fly balls. He has good arm strength with carry on his throws. Serret makes accurate online throws consistently. At the plate, Serret has a balanced approach and maintains balance through his swing. He stays back well on off speed stuff and has a nice short swing. Serret pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a good arm action. He has good arm speed and pitches with easy effort. Serret throws a very good change-up with sink and armside run. He commands the strike zone well and throws lots of strikes. Very good student.

Matthew Serret is a 2007 OF with a 5'10'', 155 lb. frame from Hesperia, CA, who attends Hesperia HS. Serret has a medium frame with athleticism. Defensively he had one of the best, if not the best, arm from the outfield. He threw 91 mph from RF with a nice and easy arm action. Serret has a fluid release with nice throwing mechanic, and his throws were online. He moves well to the ball making thins look easy in the outfield. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a closed and narrow stance. He stays back well and has a good eye at the plate. Serret just picks up his front foot and sets it down staying balanced throughout his swing. Shows solid bat speed with a short path to the ball. He is a contact hitter who will put the ball in play. Serret plays with very good game speed, much better than his sixty time might suggest. He is also a very good student.
