Alex Pacheco is a 2009 C/3B with a 5'10'', 185 lb. frame from Miami FL, who attends Barbara Coleman HS. He has a strong, mature body for his age, especially in his lower half. Pacheco was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team. Pacheco has very good present catch and throw skills. His arm strength is excellent, he threw 80 mph during drills and makes accurate, on line throws. Pacheco doesn't rush his release or his raw pop times could be quicker but he more than makes up for that with consistency and accuracy. Pacheco also showed soft, sure hands during the games and a comfortable set up behind the plate. He's a confident defender. Offensively, Pacheco hits from a balanced, calm approach and uses his strength to hit. His swing is short, with some lift at the end and Pacheco has the ability to square up and make solid, hard contact. He has good rhythm in his swing and can move the bat head with his strong hands. Pacheco plays the game on both sides with a energy and confidence that we liked. The big question with him is going to be keeping his lower half in shape and quick, otherwise he has top level catching tools. Follow closely.

Alex Pacheco is a 2009 C/3B with a 5'10'', 170 lb. frame from Hialeah FL, who attends Barbara Coleman HS. He has an athletic build with good present strength. Pacheco showed good defensive actions both behind the plate and at third base during games. He's light on his feet and has good one spot quickness. His arm strength plays at both positions. Pacheco shows the same type of balance and easy approach on offense. He has a compact swing and does a good job staying inside the ball and hitting it solidly to all fields. He has strong hands and showed during the games that he could lift the ball a bit when he got his pitch. Pacheco's simple line drive approach works perfectly for him, he looks like a high average hitter who will mix in some extra base hits. Overall, Pacheco has very nice skills for a young 2009 player. He doesn't have a lot of projection but should develop into a fine player. Good follow. Pacheco is also a good student.
