Wickersham is a 6-1, 200 lb infielder/pitcher who we’ve seen at events in the past. He has a third base profile body with good overall present strength. Wickersham ran the 60 in 7.67 on the slow track and threw 83 mph across the infield. He showed us good hands on ground balls and fielded the ball cleanly. Wickersham has played plenty of shortstop in the past and should transition well to third base at the next level. Offensively, he has a good balanced approach at the plate and uses his strength well to create excellent bat speed. He hit better in the showcase games against live pitching than in batting practice. Wickersham also pitched a couple of short relief stints at the showcase and showed very good arm strength. He has some effort in his delivery but was 84-86 mph and attacked the strike zone. He tended to get around his 69-72 mph curveball but this pitch could improve. Wickersham looks like he has a closer’s type attitude and enough stuff to use it at the right college program. Overall, he’s a solid 2-way talent with college level tools. Keep an eye on him.

Chad Wickersham is a 2005 3B from Myakka, FL. He is a muscular 5'11" third baseman who looks and profiles like a catcher. In fact, Wickersham’s best raw physical tool, his arm strength, comes from a short and quick arm stroke and release that would be ideal for a catcher. Wickersham moves well and with his arm strength and good hands, looks like a good third baseman defensively. At the plate, Wickersham has good balance and a short line drive swing. He worked the ball well to the middle of the field and to right centerfield during batting practice, but during games got to reaching on the outside half of the plate instead of trusting his hands and driving the ball the other way. With his strength and swing plane, carrying his BP approach into games should make him a very productive hitter.

Chad Wickersham -- Wickersham is an athletically built 5-11 prospect who impressed us with his offensive potential. He has very good upper body strength and generates excellent bat speed from a balanced approach. He makes solid line drive contact and does a very good job of adjusting to pitches and hitting through the ball. His pitch recognition and ability to turn on the ball might result in some serious power potential in the future. Wickersham’s bat definitely plays at the next level. What position he best profiles at is still a question. Wickersham needs to work on his lower body life and overall speed. He has the arm strength to be playable at third base with better quickness.. He might end up at a corner outfield position, but his bat plays big, he's a top level hitting prospect. One of the best bats in this event.
