Carlos Russell is a 2007 RHP/OF that attends Sommerset Academy and resides in Sunrise, FL with a 6'2", 175 lb. frame. Carlos has a tall athletic build that profiles well for a pitcher. He throws from a high 3/4 slot with a short arm action. Carlos gets a nice downhill plane on his pitches with good run on his pitches. He works quick with solid command but will need to get a little more extension. Carlos features a nice 12 to 6 curveball with a tight spin. At the plate Carlos has a balanced leveraged swing with good bat speed. His swing is long at this time and he really need to work on shortening up some. Carlos also showed good athletic ability in the 60-yard dash. Carlos is a good athlete that could attract the attention of many small to mid-level college programs.

Carlos Russell is a 6'1" 164 pound 2007 right handed pitcher and outfielder from Sommerset Academy in Pembroke Pines, Florida. He has a tall slender body that is very projectable. Carlos throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a loose easy arm. He has good life on his fastball at 80 mph and he also throws a 12/6 curveball with good depth at 65 mph. He demonstrated control of both pitches and worked the corners very well. He also fielded his position very well. Russell hits with a tall stance and a quiet approach. He is an aggressive hitter who dives into the ball. He has good bat speed and a line drive swing plane that generates some backspin upon contact. Carlos is very smooth the ball in the outfield. He has athletic actions and is very balanced. He showed good arm strength by throwing 79 mph from the outfield during the workout and he has a smooth release with good carry on his throws. He showed good speed by running a 7.13 60 as well. Carlos is a promising young player who should continue to improve.
