Joe Spano is a 2008 LHP/OF with a 5'11", 160 lb frame from Verona, NJ who attends Seton Hall Prep. Named to Top Prospect Team. Joe has a lean athletic build and showed very good two-way potential. He plays for one of the top high school teams in the country and will get plenty of chances to showcase his skills this year. On the mound Joe has a good feel for pitching with a quick loose arm action that produced lots of life on all of his pitches. Joe has a sneaky fastball that seems to jump on hitters and shows a sharp downer 12 to 6 curveball. He threw 89 from the outfield and there looks to be a good amount of velocity left in him. At the plate Joe hits from a spread balanced stance with good swing mechanics. He has a line-drive swing plane and solid gap to gap pop. In the outfield Joe has good actions to along with big time arm strength. Joe is a strong student that has very high two-way potential. He should attract the attention of many highest-level college programs.
