Elvin Marin is a 2006, C, 5'11-200 from Manati, Puerto Rico. Marin was one of the standouts at the event. He was one of the top catchers posting a 1.94 work out pop time and game pop times of 2.11 and on the bag. In between innings, his throws and footwork remained very good and he put the ball around the bag on every throw. Short arm arch and clean repeatable footwork. Marin has big time power potential. He is a RH hitter with quiet appraoch at the plate. He has a short swing plane with good bat speed. Elvin shows excellent raw power and will get better. He uses the whole field which is somewhat odd for power hitting high school players. Marins bat will excite coaches. Overall, Marin is a top level player who will be a great pick up for the right team. Pro scouts will want to see him.
