Kenny Mathews is a 2011 1B/LHP with a 6-3 205 lb. frame from Diamond Bar, CA who attends Diamond Bar HS. Big strong athletic build, projects even more strength. Left handed hitter, open stance, leg lift with big stride out, timing issues with front foot, long powerful swing, has lift and high finish, handles the barrel well against good pitching. Very agile around first base, quick feet, soft hands, balanced actions. Also pitched, 86-87 mph fastball from a low 3/4's release point, repeats delivery well, big breaking slow curveball, good run on change up. Potential 2-way prospect. Good student, verbal commitment to Cal State Fullerton.
