Jo Jo Hernandez is a 2008 2B/3B/P with a 5'10'', 175 lb. frame from Salinas CA, who attends Salinas HS. Selected as a Top Prospect at this event. He has a compact, average build on a medium frame. Hernandez can flat swing the bat. He is a line drive hitter that uses the whole field, with extra base power. His swing is fluid and easy and his approach is quiet. Hernandez has excellent hands that are both quick and disciplined, staying consistently inside the ball. He maintains balance throughout his swing. In the field he has a quick arm and some arm strength, to go with a quick release. Overall he projects best at 3rd base, where his footspeed will serve him better. He does have good reactions and feel for the game, which allow him to play up the middle at the high school level. He makes his plays and is a steady fielder. Hernandez is a strong student too.
