Paul Devito is a 2008 LHP/OF from Archbishop Spalding HS in Annapolis, MD with a 6'2", 165 lb. frame. Paul has a tall athletic build and will be one of the premier two-way talents in the class of 2008. On the mound Paul is a profile LHP with an easy arm action from a 3/4 arm slot. His velocity should only get better and he already possesses good command. Mechanically Paul is very advanced and everything appears to flow almost too easily for him. He shows off a good feel for a curveball and a developing slider. Paul looks a pitcher that will be playing at a highest-level college prospect or possibly see some draft attention. At the plate Paul has a good set of raw hitting tools, but needs to make some adjustments in his approach. He has good bat speed, but tends to come up and through the ball a little too often. Once he works on his weight transfer and staying back on the ball he should be just fine at the plate. The most impressive part of his showcase came during the workout where Paul ran a 6.85 60-yard dash and had a showcase-best 89 from the outfield. His outfield tools rate out as plus across the board and he looks to have huge upside in the outfield. Paul is a highest-level college prospect that could see some draft attention during his senior year.
