Bryan Greer is a 6'1", 195 lb. first baseman from Boca Raton, Florida, with a very good strong athletic body. He shows good arm strength with 79 mph throws across the diamond with good actions around the bag, and has the athletic ability to play the outfield positions as well as first base. Bryan is a right handed hitter with a narrow stance and no load approach. He shows very good bat speed and good balance in his swing, but could get more help from his lower half for leverage. We've seen Bryan frequently this summer, and this wasn't his best performance. It looked like he was thinking too much about his hitting mechanics and not reacting to the ball and taking a good, aggressive rip. Bryan projects plus power at the college level in the future, and we like his overall tools and the way he plays the game. He is a very good student.

Bryan Greer is a 2005 1B from Boca Raton, FL. Greer is a very strong player who we’ve seen play many times and have a good feel for. He profiles well as a power hitting first baseman at the college level. Greer is a good hitter now who has the potential to get better in the future, not through strength gains like many hitters his age, but through mechanical adjustments. He has a calm, balanced approach and swing and very good bat speed. We had one ball off his bat at 96 mph in Fort Myers and that’s pro level bat speed. Greer has some loft and extension in his swing now, but very little lower half involvement. When he learns to get his hips and legs in sync with those strong hands, Greer is going to start losing some balls in a big way. Defensively, Greer is a good first baseman and, has the arm strength and speed to move to a corner outfield spot if he has to in order for his bat to be in the lineup. Bryan is a good student.

Bryan Greer -- Greer is a right handed hitting junior first baseman who appears much bigger and stronger than his listed 6-1, 185 lb program size. Greer hits from a tall stance with a drift to the ball and a strong, quick swing. Greer hit a number of balls very hard and took some good hacks that just missed but we have to believe he’d be an even better hitter if he stayed back a bit more. He’s probably real dangerous with metal in his hands. We rarely see game notes from scouts on a first baseman’s defensive abilities but our scouts were very complimentary about Greer’s defense and his leadership skills in the field.
Greer is a very strong student as well.
