Jose Chavez is a 2017 LHP/OF with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Eugene, OR who attends Churchill HS. Medium compact build, has some present strength. Long and loose arm action, low 3/4's arm slot, good direction to the plate from the third base side of the rubber, low effort delivery that he repeats well. Fastball topped out at 80 mph, has nice late life on his fastball and keeps it down in the zone well. Slurve type breaking ball with some sweeping depth at times, developing change up with good arm speed. Strike thrower who has an idea how to pitch, would be interesting to see from the first base side of the rubber to create more angle. 7.18, showed a loose easy arm from the outfield as well. Left handed hitter, open start and doesn't get entirely directional, short rotational swing with pull contact.
