Garrett Cook is a 2007 RHP/1B with a 6'3'', 210 lb. frame from Freeport IL, who attends Freeport HS. He has a thick, strong build with good present strength and maturity. Cook has a multi-piece delivery and tends to drift out front during his delivery, leaving his arm behind and late to catch up. Cook has a tight 3/4's release point from a slight cross body angle out front. His fastball topped out at 82 mph with occasional running action. Cook's best pitch was his curveball when he got out front with it and threw it at the top range of his velocity scale (63-68 mph). Cook mixed in a couple of change ups as well. He threw strikes and seemed to have a good idea what he was doing on the mound. Cook is a good student.

Garrett Cook is a 2007 RHP/1B with a 6'3'', 210 lb. frame from Freeport IL, who attends Freeport HS. He has broad shoulders and hips and could get seriously strong if he works at it. Cook throws from a leg raise delivery with a quick, short arm action, the type you see often on power pitchers. His arm works well and he gets good extension out front. Sometimes he'll drift forward during his delivery, which hurts his leverage to the plate. Cook's fastball was 78-80 mph with some running action. He hides the ball well so it looked like it was jumping on hitters a bit. Cook's breaking ball is a 70 mph slider that has nice tilt and spin and should continue to develop into a good pitch for him. He threw a couple of 68 mph change ups. Cook looks like he has the arm and strength to throw harder right now and likely does when he's in mid-season shape. He's a good follow to check back in on in the spring. Cook is also a good student.
