Benjamin Caggianelli is a 2018 RHP/3B with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Bakersfield, CA who attends Ridgeview. Large frame with a lean build. Frame projects for additional size and strength with continued maturity. Ran a 7.84 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher simple, smooth paced side step delivery. Stays tall at balance point and creates a slight closed position. Shows some arm speed through the zone from a high energy, long three-quarters arm slot. Fastball has occasional running action to arm side ranging between 79-81 miles per hour. Cuveball has 11/5 shape with good rotation and depth when located down in the zone. Also flashed a slider with 10/4 shape with tight rotation and solid sweep to glove side. Shows best command when staying balanced throughout delivery and repeating arm action. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing smooth, athletic footwork while solid range to each side. Clean, deliberate exchanges while working through transition into throwing position. Showed varying arm slot while throwing across the infield topping at 79 miles per hour. Best accuracy to the bag occurs when staying on top of baseball and maintain momentum to the bag. Right handed hitter with a balanced, straight stance and simple leg lift trigger. Lower half launches to contact with linear action generating good shift. Hands launch on a loose, line drive path creating solid leverage through extension. Primarily uses a mid-field approach while swinging with intent to drive the baseball through the outfield gaps. Stays balanced throughout with the ability to all fields consistently when front side is on time. Good student as well.
